The association welcomes individuals and organizations at all levels, from beginners to seasoned experts. Membership is available in different categories, catering to both individuals and firms.

We recognize and appreciate the synergistic value of a connected regional innovation community, and therefore would like to encourage and welcome individuals and organizations within the region to join us as Associate Members. (See Membership price plan on the right for benefits of Associate Membership.)

Practitioners who are still developing their expertise—such as junior innovators and early-career professionals—or organizations that have yet to establish formal innovation management systems will be classified as Tier 2 non-voting members. This category offers a supportive pathway for growth, including a 20% discount on the annual subscription fee. (See the table below for details.)

Only Tier 1 members will have the right to serve on the board. This structure ensures that key decisions are made by those with deep expertise in the field, maintaining the association's credibility and integrity. Additionally, it encourages professional and organizational development, motivating members to advance toward Tier 1 status.

Membership classification is determined by a review committee upon receipt of an application.

Criteria for Tier 1 Membership

Professionals

As a candidate, you should align with the association's mission, values, and goals. Here are some criteria to consider:

  1. Education & Credentials
    • Degree(s) or certifications in fields relevant to innovation (e.g., design, business, R&D, engineering, science, and frontier technologies such as AI, IoT, gene editing)
  2. Experience
    • Proven track record in innovation-focused roles such as product development, open innovation, innovation strategy, or entrepreneurship
  3. Industry Representation
    • Expertise in industries aligned with the association's focus areas and thematic groups
  4. Commitment to Innovation Development
    • Thought Leadership: Regular contributions such as articles, presentations, or workshops on innovation topics
    • Community Building: Involvement in innovation ecosystems, mentoring, or professional associations
    • Future Goals: Interest in advancing innovation by joining panels, hosting events, or developing frameworks

Firms & Organisations

Applicants should emphasise their firm's alignment with the association's mission, commitment to innovation, and ability to contribute meaningfully to the community.

  1. Strategic Alignment
    • Open Innovation Practices: History of collaboration with start-ups, academia, or government agencies
    • Cross-Boundary Innovation: Track record of collaborating across industries, sectors, or geographies
  2. Innovation Leadership
    • Micro to Small Firms: At least 25% use of frontier technologies (AI, IoT, robotics, etc.) to produce goods and services; reputation or potential as a disruptor
    • Medium to Large Firms: Presence of a Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) or equivalent role
  3. Future-Focused Vision
    • Innovation Strategy: A clear roadmap or commitment to future innovation goals
    • Interest in Emerging Trends: Attentive to cutting-edge technologies such as AI, IoT, or ISO 56001
    • Resilience & Adaptability: Ability to pivot or innovate in response to industry or societal shifts
